Writing
My writing journey began as a kid documenting my world through my diary. As a journalist, I covered crime and education for the LA Times, but my heart has always belonged to fiction. My novel in-progress is loosely based on my experience walking across America on The Great Peace March in 1986, for which we were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. My first novel follows two young women on a harrowing journey when they are released from a state mental hospital and wind up on the streets. Though not published it was a finalist in a number of literary contests, including: Ad Lumen Press, Elixir Press, Black Lawrence press, and The James Jones First Novel Award. I am represented by Mary Krienke at Sterling Lord Literistic, Inc.
